2019 Ford F-150 Transmission Loud Clunking Noise Problem and Fix

Symptoms of this problem include a loud, metallic clunk when shifting from parking to drive or into reverse. You may think your truck is falling apart. Well you are not alone, this is a known issue that keeps many owners awake but gladly there's a fix for it.

This problem is either caused by the following: fluid pressure problems or when there's too much clearance in the transmission gear components. As per the 2020 Ford F-150 Service and Repair Manual, solutions range from changing the fluids to fairly complex procedures such as installing updated transmission fluid control valves or replacing the transmission assembly entirely. If you are experiencing this problem, I suggest you get a copy of the Service and Repair Manual and use it to troubleshoot and fix the problem.
