If your truck is shifting strangely, sometimes hesitating before engaging gears or dropping power entirely during acceleration then you could be facing transmission solenoid problems. When transmission solenoids dont read pressure correctly, they can relay wrong information which causes the truck to shift haphazardly. The good news is this problem is fairly easy to fix... for the most part.
As per the 2018-2020 Ford F-150 Service and Repair Manual, clearing the transmission adaptive shift tables usually resets the module. Worst case scenario you may need to replace the shift solenoids. If you are experience shift problems with your truck, I will advise you to get that manual and go through the transmission section carefully. It's extremely detailed with clear diagram. Very helpful.
