If there's sweet smelling smoke wafting from your engine bay or you're constantly topping up your coolant, then you may first want to check the water pump housing to see if its leaking coolant. This is a known issue in the F-150. The solution is to replace the plastic housing and that usually does the trick. Sometimes the problem is caused by a failure of the internal water pump shaft seal. In this case you will need to replace the entire water pump.
In case you want to dig deeper into this problems get a copy of the F-150 OEM Service and Repair Manual. It contains extensive details on how to troubleshoot and maintain the various F-150 systems including the engine cooling system.
Here is the link to the manual: 2018-2020 Ford F-150 Service and Repair Manual.
